[Spam for Charles]
[Back on board, Erik is exhausted. Too much was taken out of him, in taking down Creed, but there's a little smile on his face. Erik knew he was powerful, knew he to lift massive objects, stop missiles, he knew he was strong. But he never realized how far that could one day extend, and the part of his mind that is always reaching, always striving is excited and whirring, exhausted or otherwise.
He makes sure that Rogue gets to the infirmary, and leaves Charles to his own shower, for once heading to the inmate showers instead of waiting. Lifting his arms to push soap out of his hair is a feat, but he manages, just as he manages to get back to his room. In clean clothes and with a damp head, he all but collapses into his bed, grateful for its comfort.
And as much as he'd like to, he can't sleep, thoughts too busy chasing themselves around his head.]
[Private separately to Alex, Anya, Raven, Ivy]
Are you all right? [He's tense, tired, but he needs to know they got back safe.]
[Private to Jean]
[This is harder, because he hates, hates that he couldn't prevent what happened to her, hates that she was one of the ones to suffer.]
How are you feeling?
[Private to Kelsier]
I'm sorry I couldn't come for you. [Awkward, a little, because how do admit he cares without admitting he cares.]
[Private to Barbara]
[Nope this is even more awkward.] He was taken care of.
[Private to Zane]
[He's a little more hesitant, but he did tell Charles he'd try. Besides, at least in this, they have something in common.]
I thought I'd put him down permanently. But well done, dealing with him.
[Private separately to Vin and Marsh]
[There's a lot of hesitation before he says to hell with it and puts this one out: might as well collect all you Mistborn folk.] How did you make out?
[Open spam in the CTS]
[A few days after returning to the Barge, when the exhaustion has ebbed and Erik feels like himself again, he can't put off the excitement anymore. He hasn't pushed himself very hard, here; he hasn't had to. Since Raven gave him the glitter, it's been on his mind, but only in port did he realize just how far he could be pushing himself. And he intends to push hard, as hard as he can, now.
In the CTS, he's bouncing on the balls of his feet, eager to test these new limits. He had known them, once, but they keep changing, evolving (he likes how that sounds), and there is so much more he can do with magnetism than throwing metal around. That's easy: he's here to practice something much more difficult.
Electricity crackles through the air; it's like the weather itself is attacking him, not terribly unlike the port they just left. But that's all right; that's what Erik wants. He just needs to figure out how to conduct it without that almighty anger. So far, he's just been shocked a lot.]

He says nothing, for a while, just waves the door locked and lets the silence settle. But eventually, he turns his head slightly, trains his gaze on Charles.]
All right?
[Spam]
He'd closed his eyes, even though he too feels almost too awake to rest at all, but when Erik addresses him, he turns to look at him and consider how best to answer.]
I think so. [He's not fine, and he's not going to bother trying to lie about it, not to Erik. But he's not a mess, either, and Erik knows what that's like better than anyone.
He regards his friend with concern, too tired to even bother trying to hide it.] Are you?
[Spam]
[He doesn't feel remotely guilty about killing Creed; he's annoyed roasting him alive wasn't enough to keep him down permanently. He's angry that Creed was able to do what he did; he's frustrated.
But he's excited, too. A smile ticks at the corner of his mouth.]
Did that really happen?
[Spam]
[And it's occurred to him that he isn't upset about it. He can remember sitting across from Erik and leaning forward and telling him, believing every word of it that killing Shaw wouldn't bring him peace. And it hadn't, that much is obvious, but what were their other options? Shaw wouldn't have been held by any facility the government would have been able to create, especially not with someone like Azazel on his side. And then what? He would have found another way of getting what he wanted, and could they have stopped him the next time?
Creed wasn't any different. He wouldn't have backed down, and he wouldn't have stopped hurting people. If they'd tried being gentle with him, they'd both be dead, and Rogue probably would be, too.
Maybe killing wouldn't bring them peace, but the altnernatives they'd been presented with were too costly. So no, he wasn't angry with Erik, and he felt like maybe that was alright.
Then there's the fact that he'd seen his friend conduct lightning, and how incredible was that?
There's a part of him that still really doesn't want to move, but he sits up quickly anyway, looking at Erik seriously.]
Erik?
[Spam]
When Charles sits up, Erik grunts, and lifts his arms to push himself up, until he's settled on his knees. But he's alert and focused, as much as he can be right now.]
What is it?
[Spam]
He's tired enough that he's likely projecting more than usual across the link, but there's honestly nothing but acceptance and love and a general sense of calm being broadcasted. The important thing, really, is that he's not mad about what happened, or upset with Erik, but is actually proud of his friend.
It seems worth communicating.]
[Spam]
It's not the first time, but it's always a pleasant reminder, especially next to the pride he dealt with in the camp, when earning another's pride meant hating himself. He doesn't hate himself, and he's glad of Charles' approval.]
Thank you.
[Spam]
But that can come later. Right now, he's perfectly satisfied with how things are. There's a needy part of him that doesn't want to let go. Having someone to lean on makes it easier to forget what happened, to banish the memories of seeing a friend's body ripped to pieces and just left, like it's garbage. He's seen a lot of difficult things in his time, but he's not desensitized to it, not by a long shot, and he's not sure he ever wants to get to a point where he is.
He sighs softly and doesn't move to pull away, keeping himself grounded in Erik and content not to let his mind wander much.]
I'm glad you don't hate yourself.
[Spam]
[He's still bone tired, though, so after a long moment, he does draw back. It took a lot out of him, and he's excited to try again, but he knows it's not happening until he's slept for several hours. Several long hours.]
You're welcome to stay, but I may fall asleep on you.
[Spam]
That's fine. [It's an agreeable mumble, mostly because he is just. Lying down on the other side of the bed again and curling up like a cat. His eyes are already closed and he seems perfectly content to just lie here for the next couple hours.] I'm not entirely sure I'm up to getting wildly drunk and arguing about chess with you right now anyway.
[Spam]
In the morning. Or the afternoon.
Maybe the morning after.
[Spam]
He's asleep a minute or so later. It's probably a good thing that he's too tired to dream.]
[Spam]
[Spam]
So he just buries his face in the pillow with a wordless grumble (... whine) of protest, but when Erik doesn't give up, he turns over and stares up at him blearily.]
What?
[Spam]
Don't you dare go back to sleep.
[Spam]
I'm awake, I'm awake. [And he is hauling himself up, scrubbing his hands over his eyes and running them quickly through his hair to make it look less like a bird's nest. He is excited to see what else Erik can do with this new facet of his abilities, but. It's early. B(]
[Spam]
Go splash some water on your face. [He's already smiling, already excited.] Come on. I don't want an audience.
[Spam]
Just throw me those, they're fine. [Meaning that shirt and those pants you just found/are holding.] You know I could keep people away from the CTS anyway. We could sleep in a little longer.
[He's teasing.
Mostly.][Spam]
I can't believe you're not used to waking early yet. Don't tell me Arthur tolerated late training.
[Spam]
I'm almost surprised you didn't think I was being abused.
[Spam]
If you weren't being trained by King Arthur himself, I might have.
[Spam]
Oh, and if you think you can judge his slippers after you're being all ridiculous about your hair.]
I'll go grab my shoes. I'll be right back.
