[The video clicks on, and Erik is sitting at his desk, looking calm, but angry. He might start shouting, he might have a reasonable debate. It's hard to tell. He folds his hands on the desk top, and leans toward the camera.]

My name is Erik Lensherr. [Reasonable debate it seems, but there's a challenge in his face, his eyes, his voice as he goes on:] I am a mutant. I am a Jew. [He pauses for a fraction of an instant, like he's daring anyone to say anything. The instant passes, and his jaw tightens.]

I will not be remaining in your prison. You will release me, or we'll have a problem, you and I. Is that clear?

[He reaches off to the side, out of frame, and when his hands come back into view, he's lowering his helmet onto his head. (Still silver, he didn't have time to make it fabulous.)] And Charles? I hope you don't plan to spend your time here blending in. [Guilty spite. Sorry bro. :c]

[Sup dawg we heard you like angry mutants?]

They won't. Allegedly, they can't.

The only one with that power is an unseen entity named the Admiral.

That's about the shape of it. Though it'll be sold to you as a chance to regain a life lived badly and ended prematurely, if it hasn't already.

To placate us, perhaps.

Maybe for others.

Inmates seem largely resigned to their fates and wardens are uniformly indifferent to those who aren't.

[She smiles; the vines around her forearms writhe, growing a little to spread across the desk she's sitting at.]

I agree.

I'm not sure I like that word; humans wouldn't refer to walking or speech as 'powers'. Over time I've come to see my abilities as being no less fundamental.

They have been reduced, though not to the point of uselessness.

I could identify about a dozen who've made their talents noticeable - a mixture of vampires, aliens, magic users and metahumans. The actual number may be two or three times that.

About the same, maybe a handful fewer - with the same reservations for anyone who's chosen to keep their cards close to their chest or have lost their distinctions entirely.

I saw your demonstration for the Marquis - he gives that speech to most newly arrived Inmates almost word for word, by the way. Telekinesis, or something else?

A speech from an aloof, ignorant stranger telling them that they've been stripped of almost everything they possess and indefinitely confined to a place that is, somehow, not a prison?

About as many as you would expect.

Most who have been here for a year or more will be useless. They're too attached to their wardens or their so-called 'privileges' or both. The exceptions have been mistreated or neglected, sometimes by a succession of wardens.

Access to areas intended for wardens. Partial or complete restoration of one's abilities. That sort of thing. Tokens.

Of the veterans, Arthas Menethil springs to mind. From what I've observed he hates the Barge, the idea of graduating, most people, and himself. He's powerful, but as you might expect, he may not play nicely with others.

There's a girl I've noticed, as well. Wanda. Metahuman, but I'm not sure in what sense. She seems to believe she's been singularly mistreated by the warden population and the Barge in general. It might be true; who knows? [Who cares :V]

I admit that I haven't undertaken much focused research into the matter. I haven't been here long myself and I work alone unless there's good reason not to.

On reflection, I don't believe it ever will. If I had the full extent of my abilities, perhaps...but the extent of the wardens' control would be difficult to overcome nonetheless.

One hundred and sixty at full capacity, which we haven't yet reached. Wardens tend to outnumber inmates at any given time.
