wecanavenge: (What if we all die young?)

[The video clicks on, showing an uncertain eye and not much else, because the video is held much too close. The camera flips and jostles a few times, before it's held back enough to see a young boy. He looks much younger than he really is, rake thin in a very unhealthy way, but still more than skin and bones. He's pale, and he's scared. When he speaks, it's all in German; which, usefully, is the only language he knows.]

H-hallo? [Tosh has already assured him that Herr Doktor is not around and there won't be any tests of any kind today but...he isn't entirely convinced and is more than a little nervous to direct more attention to himself. So he's hesitant, but tentatively giving into some curiosity?] Is this one of the SS buildings? [He pans the camera around the room quickly; partially visible, as he tries to gesture with his other hand, is the silver helmet he holds.] I have never been here before.

[And he heads to a couch, looking uncomfortable, but...maybe a little pleased. This is more comfort than he's known in - well, ever. He manages a little smile, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes, and falters at the edges.] It's very nice. Thank you for letting me stay here.

[His attention drops back to the helmet, now in his lap, and he holds it up for the camera after a moment - the look on his face says he probably shouldn't play with it and he's sorry, but he's drawn to it nonetheless.] Does this belong to someone?

(OOC: And tags will come from [personal profile] einzweidrei because I'm a bad person. :c Blanket content warning, again, for possibly in depth discussion of the Holocaust.]

[Oh God he had a feeling Charles would be around Erik. The two are literally attached at the hip, it's kind of ridiculous. But screw you, Lensherr. His heart is there, it's just... buried under snark and assholery.]

Tony. [He's still speaking German, with that hint of something else. Maybe French, with a side of American. Like he learned German through a middleman, language-wise.] Stark, but not as German as that might sound. American through and through, over here.

[Speaking of American, he's switching to English now to address the tiny telepath]

And yeah, no. Sorry. That part's a secret.

[He's tempted to say "I could find out", and he's not sure why he's more or less comfortable with the idea of acknowledging his powers to Tony, but he holds himself back out of habit.

He switches back to English to reply, still curious.]

Are you the grownup who's supposed to look after me, like Toshiko with Erik? I'm alright, I have clothes and everything.
aggravating: (If this is hell)

[Because this is the asshole you're pretty much responsible for, normally. That's why. And this is really weird.]

Yeah, uh. No. Not at- I'm kind of the opposite of the "grownup who's supposed to look after you". I'm the anti-babysitter. I'm the guy who'll strap you to a flying chair and take you for a spin and make you promise not to tell your parents.

That sounds a bit dangerous. [And also maybe fun but. Who are you and can you actually make chairs fly.]

Why not?

[His go-to answer for anything. And, oh boy, it's actually kind of easy to relax a bit, to slip into the persona he's usually in when talking to kids, signing autographs. Working kids up over the more mundane Stark products, knowing they'll either leave the showcase throwing a tantrum or the new owner of whatever cool thing or phone or media player Tony was pushing, just to keep them from the inevitable embarrassing meltdown.]

Why stick to driving around on the ground when you can fly? And yeah, it's dangerous. Kind of. It has a belt, but that's not the point.

The point is freedom. Winning a fight over a biological constant, over actual physics.

[Yeah, okay. Let it be known. Tony Stark just has a thing for impressing and entertaining kids. He likes them, is even - gasp - good with them. They're pure imagination and ingenuity and not warped and damaged as adults are. Even kids with pasts like Erik's, they aren't- there's just something different about talking to a kid versus talking to an adult. Something that Tony genuinely likes.

And if anyone calls him on it after this flood is done, he's sending a doomsday bot to trash their room and explode in their face.]

[Erik likes the sound of that. Of freedom, of course, but of winning against the biological constant. Of moving the coin. So he smiles a little, curiosity grabbed and stoked.]

Can you really do it?
