[Sup Barge. This is the one time you will see Erik without his helmet on. His hair is a little mussed and he looks more than a little frazzled. He doesn't like this kind of constant mutation okay, it's not really his thing. He liked just catching every piece of metal in the corner of his eye.]

When is this damn flood going to be over?

[Yeah Erik is super talkative. He is, however, broadcasting and receiving, and right now, he's broadcasting a hell of a lot of frustration, and under that some serious yearning. He wants his repo family, even if he doesn't want anythign to do with that world, and he can't stop wanting it. :c]

Is this what it's always like? [He's talking to Charles, sort of, but he realized he didn't make it private and...doesn't care.] You other psychics, is this what it's like all the time?

[Ugh, all the feels. Charles is fully affected as well, and immediately there's something kind of painful - almost like quiet excitement you feel when talking to someone you really care about that's being partially crushed by remembering... everything, because things are different now, mixed in with some empathy about that yearning, bro - before there's largely just confusion and irritation. There's almost too much stuff going on and without the ability to control it, he's getting the mother of all headaches.]

[Aggravation crosses Erik's face, because he can feel all of that, and he isn't sure how to begin processing what he's experiencing and what Charles is experiencing. It's too muddled right now, and piecing it all out is something he has zero practice in. Erik knows how to maintain his own emotions, to an extent; he can't do much with anyone else's.]

I don't recall this being a useful lesson. [Remember how they didn't encourage their kids to totally lose control in order to gain control. :|]

It wasn't, to the best of my recollection. [There was some faint humor there, but there's a quite a bit of his own aggravation, because not having control is unusual and troubling, especially given he's almost forcibly repressing his telepathy more than usual just so there isn't extra bleed through.]

I'd be born American. [There's so much dryness in his voice, like it's a joke, but there's some truth there.] I'd change the events of World War II, I'd see mutants take their rightful place on the planet. And I wouldn't accept the promise of an indistinct tyrant for them, either.

I don't want anything big like that, Erik. But what I want is fucking reason enough for me to stay.

Relying on someone else to give you what you want has never been a practical decision in my experience.
