That's a pretty thought. [It would be nice to believe that, and maybe in some way he does, but he's a little too jaded to embrace idealism with open arms.]

I've always thought the problem was in believing at all. Better to put your faith in yourself, and be responsible for your own choices, than to lay it elsewhere.
