It's about a young man and woman who just realized they love each other, and through a terrific misunderstanding, he's sent to prison and eventually heads off to war, and she promises to wait for him, and they plan on living together away from their pasts and resuming their story where it left off when it's all over.

[And he chuckles sort of self deprecatingly.] I have to admit, it got a fair bit sadder than I anticipated when I first sat down to write the damn thing.
